How do you boot from an external SCSI drive?
|
|
|
| Hi all.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible to tell the Boot Prom to boot
from specific SCSI IDs?
For example, I have an Ultra1 with a CD-ROM in it already, but it's
pretty slow. So I've connected an external one, but its SCSI ID is not 6.
Whenever I type 'boot cdrom', it always boots fromt the internal CD-ROM.
I also have a SparcStaion 5 with no internal CD-ROM, and when I type 'boot
cdom',
it won't work unless the external CD-ROM is set to ID 6.
Is there a way to tell it to boot from ID 2 (or whatever I set the ID to
be)?
Thanks.

See Sun documentation how openboot booting works, for instance
