I am tying to salvage information from an old motorola box to be
upgraded to a new server. The only connection I have to the server is
through the console and dumb terminals through a digi-board. The old
server doesn't seem to have any kind of networking setup. It has 2
ethernet connections, one being RJ-45 and the other AUI, but it seems
that there is no networking available. ifconfig -a shows nothing,
though when I plug in the ethernet to a switch, the switch light comes
on and the ethernet light turns on on the box itself.

How do I enable networking on this old Motorola?

Also, I built a serial to RJ-45 connector and can connect to the
console through a PC using HyperTerminal. Is there a way to transfer
files in this manner? I tried using various protocols through
hyperterminal, but none will work. I'm assuming that the protocol has
to be enabled on the server side as well?

Any help would be appreciated.

Jeff
