Hi,

I would appreciate if any of you could please explain the following:

a) What is the security risk associated if logger is not used?

b) What is the risk associated if BoKS is not used? What is the usefulness of BoKS?

c) Why is it important to use Seos? What are security risk of not using it?

d) How can I check whether finger service is disabled or not?

e) How can I check whether all remote-R commands are disabled or not?

Thanks a million for helping in explaining above.

How long is a piece of string? Without logging (there's always logging,
unless you go to extrordinary if not impossible means to turn it off),
someone could do something and you wouldn't know what, when, or who.

Don't know what BoKS is; google thinks I mean "books" in Dutch, it seems.

Are you sure this is *unix* homework?

Depends on the OS. Might be easier to try to finger someone at that
host, or look in it's services or inetd config files depending on
what you're asking.

See above answer.

Apparently the questions are directly related to your particular
environment, so I don't know how much use a Usenet query is going to
be for you.

My explanation for all of them is that they are homework questions. You
should do your own.
