first, I apologize for not asking this on a PC hardware
dedicated group; I need some advice by experts and that's
the only way I know to avoid being flooded by h4rdw4r3
m0dz d00dz & g4m3rz replies.

Ok, I'm going to throw away the 2nd IBM hard drive
in less than one year. After being lucky enough to
recover almost everything I'd want to set up a
decent software RAID 5 system for my Linux/x86 file
server.
That's a dedicated, headless, remotely administered
machine that runs 24/7/365.

Since I cannot afford expensive SCSI drives and
controllers, I'd go for ATA or SATA solutions.
Which drives would you buy/suggest for a decent file
server keeping reliability at the 1st place at the cost
of speed and/or some more bucks?
Personally I'd discard all brands whose warranty was
reduced from 3-5 years to 1 year, but that would
eliminate almost all big names. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.
