|

| Tech Geek 2004-01-23, 5:06 pm |
| Hi Sun Gurus,
I am trying to boot using the cdrom so that I can perform the install of
Solaris 9 (cd 1 of 2) by using "boot -s cdrom", but failing with the
following errors:
unexepcted message in 7
Seek error at block 58a00
Short read. 0x2000 chars read
Short read. 0x2000 chars read
....... about 20 similar lines
sd error reading symbols
Cannot load drivers for /sbus@1f,0/SUNW,fas@e,8800000/sd@6,0:b
Can't load the root filesystem
Type go to resume.
Please help me get pass this problem. From the surface of the cd, it looks
ok, any help or pointers to help would be highly appreciated.
I will be posting this question for help in this NG and also in
comp.sys.sun.admin, with a hope that I will get quick response from either
of the group. .... Sorry....
Thanks for your time and help in advance!

Do you have another box on which you can mount the cd to find out if it
is OK? If it is, the cd drive might be the problem.

You can go anywhere you want if you look serious and carry a clipboard.

Unfortunately, I don't have another Sun System, but have a Red Hat 9.0
desktop. I am getting thesse new errors when tried to install using a new
set of CD.
---------
unexpected message in 7
WARNING: attempt to map-out non dma-alloc'd range: ffefe000 2000
WARNING: attempt to free non dma-alloc'd range: ffefe000 2000
Boot load failed
Evaluating boos cdrom
The file just loaded does not appear to be executable.
-------------
Is there a way to install by mounting the cd on linux system? If yes, could
you please help with the information or pointers to the information.
Sun Gurus, Please help me with this problem.
Thanks
