Greetings to all,

I'm trying to configure my FreeBSD box to print over my LAN to an HP on my
Windows 98 box. Could someone tell me if I would need to setup SAMBA to
accomplish this task?

Thanks

Depends on how the printer is connected.

In general you would be better off with the printer connected to
a LAN-printbox, some printers already have this builtin.

Using a LAN-printbox usually mens that several protocols are available,
lpd is one of the common unix-printing metods ( and built-in in yoir
FreeBSD sysstem). Windows native printing uses netbios, and here comes samba
into action ( at least part of samba)
