Author Problem solving, in general, on *ix

I've written up the generic approaches to solving *ix problems I've
accumulated in over 13 years of administering *ix systems.

I've made available to others with the hope that three things will happen:

1) People will read it, and find something useful in it

2) People will read it, say to themselves "What about this method? I've
found that useful..." and then they e-mail me about it. If I agree
that it's useful, I'll add it to the page, and of course, credit the
source.

3) Where I've listed a group of similar programs, people will mention
other useful programs they've used, platform specific or not.

The URL is http://dcs.nac.uci.edu/~strombrg/Pr...ux-systems.html

Thanks!

Dan,
As a looong time UNIX sysadmin it looks like you have "been there,
done that" for sure! I know more than a few admins that should read that
to get a better grasp of reality, looks good.

Yup, good write-up. I'd like to add a point:

Always check which version prog/kernel/etc you are running and if
there are updates available. Read the "Changelog", perhaps your
problem has already been fixed in newer versions. Keeping a
system updated is likely to not show up one or another problem in
the first place.
