Hello everyone,

By DLC I do mean the Digital Link Control protocol not Desktop Linux
Consortium. Currently, for this protocol, jobs are sent to a Windows
system which in tern are sent to the devices for processing.

I'd like to eliminate the Windows machines from the equation, and would
like to configure the DLC protocol on my Red Hat 9 boxes. What is
required? I mean, it's got to be possible. I find it very hard to
believe that I'm the only person in the world who want's their linux
systems to talk DLC so something's got to be out there. I just don't
know what to look for. I've about the last hour and half looking.

It must be possible. The Windows setup uses MAC addresses extensively
for this. Well, arp uses these MAC addresses too. I know their
separate protocols, but if one system is getting these addresses then we
ought to be able to make other systems use these addresses as well, correct?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Could you expand what 'DLC' does ? Is it the mechanism IBM defined to
tunnel token-ring traffic across an ip network ? If so we used
cisco's to do that task.
