I apparently lost my bosinst.data file. Do I need it?

Why is it that several times a week, someone wanders in here and
asks a vague question without giving _any_ detail about the system
they're using?

It's an AIX file. AIX newsgroups will have folks who know
but they are not very active newsgroups. The problem is
the file contains numbers identifying your system's boot
logical volume so you can't just copy from another system.
You can probably use some lsattr/lsvg/lslv/etc command to
get the numbers in question, copy from elsewhere, and
correct the copy. It would be tricky but possible. Far
better to go to your backup tapes.
