Author getting back into the job market

Just laid off, haven't had to job hunt for years.. Any suggestons on the
most effective way to find a new one? Monster? Dice? etc.

Or classified ads, staffin services?

Unix is a multitasking multithreaded operating system.
You should be too. All of the above plus whatever else
you think of.

Also think of folks you've helped in recent years. Give
them a buzz and see if they can use additional help now.
Once you've helped them somehow ask if they know anyone
who's looking.

Yes, networking is another. Join some unix/linux user groups which might get
you a referal. Be cautious in online applications so that you do not
become an identity theft victim.

I'm not too thrilled with Monster, I got a _lot_ of spam to the
unique address I used for Monster postings. Last time I was looking,
I got placed through K-Force, and they seem to have good contacts
and a good network. That having been said, we're looking for someone
right now (Solaris/BSD/Linux/Apache/Openview/Weblogic), and our company
went straight to the newspaper with the job req. Who knows where you'll
find the right people, or where the right job is hiding.

Sorry to hear about your layoff. Hope they gave you a decent package?

depending on your location craig's list can be a good resource.
