Pls help - How to backup a site ?

I apologize ..this might sound like s stupid question.

My friend has a site. She is NOT technical like me.

How can we back up a site ?

It is a database driven site using php and mysql hosted at
jv-hosting.net (on Linux server I think).

Can anyone PLEASE send me DETAILED instructions on how to do this.

I would like to do this every week and keep a copy
1.on Cpanel
2.and another copy on my desktop.

I heard that I have to install some free software First to do this ?

PLEASE HELP.

It depends.

I'd ask jv-hosting.net for suggestions. If they can't help you I
suggest a better hosting company. Contact me if you want the details of
who I use.

It depends. If you have anything but Windows, everything you need will
be built into your system already.
