Author Problem in AIX

I have a AIX 5.3.I have configured LAN with IP address..My problem is
that iam able to ping the default gateway and machines in other
subnet.but not able to ping machines on my local LAN(Subnet)


what is ths problem

Only routed traffic works -> subnet mask.
