I'm working on implementing a simple and scalable MTA. I've been
searching for documents on different ways of implementing mail queues
but found nothing. The qmail's queue seems too complex and is not well
documented. I'm not considering using a SQL database.

Does anyone here can point some docs or give some ideas ? Thank you.

qmail's queue is quite simple and is documented in the file INTERNALS in the
source distribution.
