But i can't neither use expect or pipe or redirect as the program that
i have to invoke will be a third party one with callbacks to my shell
scripts on certain event. The broad issue is like this:
Say there are two entry fields , the user will get a list upon
pressing a certain key stroke, he will be choosing for the first entry
field. Upon data being choosen for the
first entry, i want to dynamically remove certain options from the
second entry when the user presses a keystroke to get a list. I have
control to wirite shell scripts to populate the list. When the user
had choosen, there is no callback or event propagated to the user(thus
compounding my problem to get the data in the first entry). Upon
entries filled up, the user will have to press enter which will only
take to a final output screen( not another entry,if such a facility , i
could solve this problem). (All of these interface are avaliable on the
unix terminal).

To solve this, does any facilty exist in a shell script that could sit
as daemon and monitor keystrokes, so that upon that particular choice
made by the user in a first entry ,
i could save it in a file and make use of that data to populate the
second entry field.
