Well, put it this way: You can sent a structure over the network.
If this strucate makes sense to the remote peer is a different
story...If you're absolutely sure, the destination is the same
architecture, and uses the same alignment, everything is ok.

But sending a structure wasn't the main problem in the code.
With the changes I marked, it is at least possible to send
packets marked as OSPF and receive them.
