I recently started working for a new company, and inherited, among
other systems, an NCR 3426 (S26) running MP-RAS 3.x. As is the case in
many times, nobody seems to know what the Root password may be. I have
worked with many different flavors of *nix, and most all of them I
have worked with support some means of booting up in a single user
mode, with the Root file system mounted R/W, so you can edit the
shadow file. Does anyone out there know if this can be done on this
system / O/S, without trashing the existing file systems? I have the
installation media and physical access to the box.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Mark
