| Hi all,
I would like to install Tru64 4.0F on a AlphaSeverDS25 box.
I don't have the OS CDs. I have only one disk on which i want to install
tru64 unix.
I am trying to download the image onto the disk using imex script. After
this operation when i try to boot the system with the disk, it says no
primary swap. it returns to the boot prompt.
I even tried creating root and swap partitions. But the result is same.
Anyone has any idea on this?
Usually what is the ideal size for root and swap partitions?
Thanks inadvance.

| DS25 is only supported under 5.1a and 5.1b according to the doc set.

| You can start at http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/nhd/ then look at the
NHD5 docs (which is when DS25 was first supported). That's a 5.1a kit,
so you can assume that only 5.1a and 5.1b have support. I would have
also thought that the docs that came with the system would have
mentioned this? The DS25 page has this buried somewhere too:

| The AlphaServer firmware release notes DO NOT state the required
version of an OS for a given hardware Platform. The table you are pointing
to only states the Minimum revision of the firmware disk that is required
for a given OS version. In the case of Tru64 UNIX V4.0F the minimum FW Disk
level is V5.4.
The minimum version of the OS is stated in the QuickSPEC and on the
supported options web page, see url below.
http://h18002.www1.hp.com/alphaserv...25_options.html
from that web page
a.. For Linux:
a.. Minimum Operating System version for Linux is RH7.1.
b.. Minimum Kernel Required: 2.2.17
a.. For UNIX:
a.. Minimum Operating System version for Tru64 UNIX is v5.1A with Patch
Kit 2: T64V51AB02AS0002-20020513.tar and NHD5. See most up-to-date patch
information.
a.. For VMS:
a.. Minimum Operating System version for OpenVMS is v7.3-1.
b.. Minimum FIS: BP-RT6N0-01 rev A01 - FISK VMS 7.31 R01 CDKIT AUG02
c.. OpenVMS clusters assumed supported unless otherwise noted.
Reference the OpenVMS Cluster Software (SPD.78.14) for details regarding
SCSI OpenVMS Cluster system support.
d.. MOP boot support on-board gigabit Ethernet devices not supported.
e.. v7.3-1:
a.. The following TIMA Kits are required. See most up-to-date patch
information.
o VMS731_CPU2208-V0100
o VMS731_FIBRE_SCSI-V0100
o VMS731_SYS-V0200
