| I've upgraded two XP1000 systems from DU 4.0E to Tru64 5.1 (complete fresh
installs on new disks) and all's fine except that the console keeps
getting the error messages:
Feb 6 16:53:59 d vmunix: fcntl: Local lock-manager not registered
Feb 6 16:54:30 d last message repeated 281 times
Feb 6 16:56:31 d last message repeated 1114 times
all the time (and these are in /var/adm/messages too).
A secondary problem concerns pine, the mail client. This worked fine under
DU 4.0E but under 5.1 mail can be read and sent. But when sending a
message by hitting ctrl-x, it first reports 'Sending...' and then hangs
with the message 'Writing Fcc' while it writes the copy of the message to
the user's local mail directory. It creates the file 'sent-mail.lock'
in this directory but doesn't update the 'sent-mail' file. The system
freezes (unless you've logged into it via ssh where you can terminate the
connection).
Are these two problems somehow related and what is the cause? I've also
compiling the latest version of pine on these systems but this too has the
same problem.
Any help or suggestions will be very gratefully received as the pine
problem is holding up our transition from DU 4.0.x to 5.1, not to mention
the irritating console messages.
