Network adapter for PWS 433au

| I have a DEC PWS 433au running Tru64 (I believe version 5, I can check
if it's crucial), which currently has a 10MBit ethernet adapter and an
FDDI adapter installed. The network here at Caltech is ethernet, so
FDDI is pretty much useless to me. The 10MBit adapter works fine, but
it is way too slow for my purposes.
Question: what kind of 100 MBit PCI ethernet adapters does Tru64 unix
support? Can I just pick up a standard <$20 3Com/RealTek/whatnot?

| Are you sure it's only a 10mb adapter? I thought the PWS systems came
standard with 10/100 cards (DE-500 BA perhaps?). If you're only getting
10mb, you need to change the hw setting from the SRM console b4 you boot
unix. "Show ewa*" to see current settings.

Or something like
lan_config -i tu0 -m utp -s 100 -x 0
lan_config -i tu1 -m utp -s 100 -x 0
in /etc/inet.local

Ideally, you want one using a Digital 21xxx series chip (tulip driver),
I have yet to find a card using these chips that hasn't shown up as tu0.
The dec-branded card with this chip is the de500.
DEC has switched to the Intel Ether Express chip in more recent cards,
and they'll show up as ee0 (and so on). The problem here is that there is
more variance in the Intel-based cards so you can't expect a random
card to just work.
The dec-branded card with this chip is the de600.
