Hey All.

I am still trying to work on learning Tru64 I really appreciate alot of
the help that I have gotten from so many of you. I would like to know
what / how do I install packages or software on Tru64?

I originally did the minimal install with the hope of learning how to
install further packages (subsets is that the word??) so that I would
learn how the whole system works in that regards. But Ive been stuck
and im not sure about all the terminology so its difficult to find all
the right articles on the HP site.

Any additional help would be great. Or at Least URLs that I can go and
read more on so that I can learn further.

Thanks

Johhny

how do i install or use the man pages also with Tru64? that would be a
good start it appears as though the majority of things dont have man
pages or is there special syntax that is different from say solaris,
linux, freebsd etc?.

I don't know about the man pages and stuff, but there is some sort of
package management command called 'setld', this can be used to list,
install and delete packages.

Otherwise you'll have to stick to ./configure and make :-)

I would also be happy if I could find a site that has like an overview
of specific commands and administration tools.

You can use setld to install the man pages... The examples in the guide to
software installation here...
http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/base...8SETE/TITLE.HTM
Will show you what you need.

There is a general guide to the admin tools here...
http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/base...9FETE/TITLE.HTM

And some general assistance with navigating the Tru64 doc sets and other
things can be found here...
http://www.tru64.org.

Also if you need it you can install RPM, although there are not many RPM's
for Tru64.

Maybe load , inventory and delete is better words for setld :-)
or the options can be confusing.
