I'm trying to use RedHat Linux 9.0 to watch TV shows I recorded on another
computer using my ATI TV Wonder card. I'm using an IBM ThinkPad A31 laptop
that has a native resolution of 1400 x 1050. If I have the system
configured to display at 1024 x 768 all videos played appear distored
(i.e. the size is stretched - too wide and too short). If I have the
display resolution set at 1400 x 1050 the videos appear fine. This problem
occurs with Xine and VideoLAN Media Player.

When I run Xine in full-screen mode the Xine window fills the screen. But
the actual video playing only displays on the top 3/4 of the window, there
is a black bar at the bottom of the screen where the video doesn't play.
The result is a distorted view. The problem also exists on a DVD movie I
tried playing, the movie wasn't a widescreen movie.

When I boot to a Knoppix Linux boot CD and play the same video it works
fine when I have the display at 1024x768. The only time it looks fine in
RedHat is if I increase the display resolution to 1400 x 1050.

Help?
