Hi,

When I start my X with 'startxfce4' (http://www.xfce.org), then it uses up to 30
MB of RAM. Over the time this memory usage grows and grows. In the end it eats
up to 160 MB. Is this normal?

I've got the same problem with the preinstalled gnome (started with 'startx')

My System: Redhat9, PII350, 256MB RAM, Nvidia Riva128zx ('nv' driver)

I can't believe, that this is normal, since the X-server does not really load
any special libraries over the time. What it does, is just drawing windows, no
matter what those windows contain. Does it have any cache or is it a memory
leak? Maybe there's a memory leak in the seldomly used nv driver.

if it's not a memory leak, what is it?

thanks for any respons !

greets Boris

I've opened mozilla with several tabs here. After having closed mozilla the
memory usage fell back to 48 MB.

What happens here ?? Why does X eat up my memory, when mozilla opens a lot of tabs.

Thanks Boris
