| hello
i'm trying to install rh 9.0 or fedora on a compaq
proliant 5000 server with 640mb of ram.
i start the installation with "linux mem=640M" but
it stops with a kernel panic.
if i start with "linux" it says that if have only 16mb of ram.
are there other start options for this type of machine ?
is a dual pentium pro 200mhz, 640mb ram
regards, markus

Try; linux text skipddc mem=exactmap mem=640K@0 mem=639M@1M

| hi again
after sucessful installation with
"linux text skipddc mem=exactmap mem=640K@0 mem=639M@1M"
the system sees only 128mb of ram.
do i need to modify the grub boot-loader ?
any hints are welcome.
regards, markus

Pass the same three 'mem' commands on the same line that starts with;
kernel /vmlinuz
