I installed the plugin for xmms but does not work with core 1. Does
anybody knows where to get this plugin.
With RH 9, it worked ok, i was able to hear radio streams by configuring
the helper application in Mozilla.
Any help in this respect will be appreciated.

Thx in advance,

How did you install that package? FC1 comes with xmms version 1.2.8 and so
your package would require xmms 1.2.7. Does not fit and this way it won't
work.

You may get
http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/1/i386/...vn.2.1.i386.rpm
to play mp3 on FC1.

On KDE from ~/iframe/xmms..., right mouse click-> install packages.

On RH9 it worked fine.

Switch your brain on and think about that Fedora Core 1 is not Redhat 9!

I told you that FC1 comes with xmms-1.2.8 and not 1.2.7 like RH9.

Read the documentation please.

I installed the package you pointed me to,
xmms-mp3-1.2.8-0.lvn.2.1.i386.rpm but to my surprise it don't work.

In Mozilla, I configured the helper application as follows:

MIME Type: audio/x-scpls
Description: mp3 stream
Extension: .pls

Open it using: /usr/bin/xmms

On clicking a radio stream ling in mozilla, it only opens a page but
nothing hapens.

I installed, as root, the rpm using rpm -ivv <package>

Any advice?

thx. FM>

Why, if you download and install the new xmms-1.2.9 packages for Fedora
you don't need it; http://www.xmms.org/download.php

Added bonus; you can choose between analog or digital audio CD output.

Hi,

Should i uninstall and remove xmms-1.2.8, or simply make a rpm -U <xmms...>?

Thx. FM>

On trying to upgrade to xmms-1.2.9 I get an error msg:
Failed dependencies:
libasound.so.2 is needed by xmms-1.2.9-1
xmms = 1:1.2.8 is needed by (installed) xmms-devel-1.2.8-3.p

So, what's next?
Where do I get libasound.so.2?

Thx, FM>

1) libasound.so.2 is part of ALSA sound system, you need that as it is
required by the RPM you try to install

2) you should learn about RPM system, what dependencies mean

Either way. Use;

$ rpm -qa | grep xmms
(this will get the list of the packages you need, don't worry about the
xmms-skins package if installed)

After getting the xmms package you need (don't forget about ALSA)
downloaded to a common directory location;

$ rpm -Uvh xmms*.rpm --force
(this will install the non RH modified version over the installed RH
version)
