Author Foreign characters in an RHAS3 - Windows SMB configuration

Not quite sure if I have the right group, but here goes anyway...

I have RH Adv. Srv 3.0 acting as a file server, using samba to provide
connectivity to the rest of the Windows network. My client is Windows XP.
Some of my files have foreign characters in their names. For example
"bourée" (there's an e-acute in there). They were originally created on a
Windows 2003 server, and showed up fine on the server and the client. When I
migrated to RHAS3, however, the file names all had question marks where the
accented characters had been... and now the Windows clients see nothing but
a series of little boxes where the characters ought to be -and file access
is denied.

For anyone who's interested, I've put some (small) screen shots up at:
www.dizwell.com/red_hat.htm

If I re-type the file names on the RH server itself, complete with accented
characters, then the names appear fine on the Windows machine.

This is obviously something to do with character sets, but I don't recall
selecting one when installing RHAS3, and I don't see anything very obvious
about how to change the character set after an install -nor what it ought to
be to live comfortably with Windows clients.

Any pointers gratefully received.

Regards
HJR
