Fedora Core 2 with all upgrades done. When I print from gimp, everything
is ok. Printing from OpenOffice or from pdf viewers doesn't even create a
job in the print manager.

What is wrong with these applications? Printing from gimp works.

Are you using CUPS or LPD?

What command is openoffice/xpdf/acroread configured to use? Probably
lpr, which if you are using CUPS, may not work correctly. Reconfigure
to use 'lp' if you are a CUPS user.

Where can I check or configure that? In OpenOffice I cannot see this
option. When I click in OpenOffice on the printer properties button,
nothing happens.
