I wanted to install the MPlayer. But as soon as i started the
../configure command FC 2 warned me for GCC 2.96. How can i upgrade to
the 3.2 version?

fedora.us + rpm.livna.org
freshrpms.net
atrpms.net

All 3 have FC2 ready packages. No need to compile it your own.
