Restart does not !!
|
|
|
| Fedora 1 , 2.6 kernel.
When I do
"shutdown -r now"
The system shuts down and kills everything, then shows the following:
Please standby while rebooting the system...
Restarting system...
and then stops all activity. It does mot return to the BIOS to restart
the Pentium MMX 200MHz machine.
I have to press the RESET button.
What can I do to make it really fully restart ?

No go. Why does "shutdown -r now" not work, in your opinion ?
a "reboot" command from the prompt does the same: makes the machine
hang at the same spot
"init 6" too
"reboot -f" hangs too at the same spot and closes the system
"uncleanly".
So: no go.

I've had that happen before. You might want to check the BIOS settings. Try
the optimal or failsafe settings. If you have updated the BIOS lately, for
sure clear the settings by shorting the CMOS jumpers on the board. You might
want to try this anyhow. Be sure to write down the settings if you're not
sure what they should be, but using the optimal or failsafe settings after
you clear them is usually a safe bet.

found it:
I just added "reboot=b" to the kernel line in grub.conf
