Author printing from RH9 to Winxp

Good Day

I have RH9 connected to a local network which use's a printer attached to a
winxp box.

After I run the config on the RH9 box and try and send a test image to the
printer I get

Unable to connect to samba host Connection failed with error
NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED

I can print from other winders puters to the printer in question but not
from RH9.

Steve

Be sure the SMB/NMB ports are open on the RH9 host.

And use the samba RPM's found here(RHL9's samba does not work well with
Windows XP); http://us4.samba.org/samba/ftp/Binary_Packages/Fedora/

Choose the updated packages for Fedora Core 1, they should work just fine
in a current maintained (up2date) version of RHL9. From the console or
xterm session to find out which packages you need to update type something
like; rpm -qa "*samba*"

Strange. There are no Core 1 files; only Core 2 files through that link.
Version 3.0.7-1

Maybe the volunteer(s) have not yet posted the RPM's for FC1 yet. Or the
samba group has chosen not to build the binary RPM's for FC1. The last
time I looked ( around 8/28/2004) the FC2 RPM's were at the 3.0.6 level.

You could try building the binary samba RPM packages from the source RPM
found here; http://us4.samba.org/samba/ftp/Bina...s/Fedora/SRPMS/

Most of the time all you need to do (as root) after 'installing' the
src.rpm is something like;

cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS
rpmbuild -bb samba.spec (in this case)

The samba 3.0.7 binary RPM's may work in FC1 just fine, you may want to
try them.

FYI: http://us4.samba.org/samba/ftp/WHATSNEW-3-0-7.txt

Thanks for the tip!!!!
