I am using RH 3 ES .I am logged in as root.I browsed the net and later
shut down the system. Now when i try to ping it says ethernet card eth0
not found.ifconfig says that it cannot connect.I tried to configure
using ->network servers->services .But it says eth0 not found. It was
working fine just 10 minutes back, and while shutdown it shows -
nfs daemon [ failed].
Please help me.

Either your driver didn't get loaded, or your NIC is bad. Use lspci
to scan your PCI bus, and load the appropriate driver; check for a
line in /etc/modprobe.conf for eth0; that will be your driver; then
type 'modprobe <drivername>' as root.
