Hey Gang,

Anybody else having trouble with the new Red Hat 2.4.20-30.9
Kernel and ALSA? Every time I boot the new kernel, I get:

alsactl: load_state:1134: No soundcards found...

when I try to start ALSA. Everything still works fine when
I go back to the 2.4.20-28.9 Kernel, which is what I'm
presently doing.

I'm running ALSA version 1.0.1, compiled from source with
one small hack (I had to change a #define to get around the
'schedule_work' thing) with a CS4236 sound card. Never did
get ALSA working with OSS, which is no big deal since my
players work fine with straight ALSA output.

Only other difference between booting the new and older
Kernel is that 2.4.20-30.9 says it recognizes the card on
bootup while the older (working) version does not. Kinda
back-asswards, one would think. So since the version that
does not recognize the card works, I used reverse logic and
told the new kernel not to initialize the card on bootup.
Still no good.

Any ideas?
