Hi,
I'm trying to set up the above software to get myself a name on the
Internet (haha! ), and it doenst work. When booting up I see a
"starting ddclient.... <nothing>" , ie. no OK or failed. I've done
everything the README said, and I occassionally get "status reports" in my
mailbox saying "caught SIGTERM.... exiting", and this is in fact mentioned
on the projects freshmeat page. Whats going wrong, and how do I fix it?

Thanks

Schewdent.

ddclient works properly for me. The only stunt I had to pull was to
search for the second ip address (the WAN one) in the status web page of
my Linksys. This is a known problem with this type of router, and the fix
is documented in the readme. It just works.

You will get the "caught SIGTERM" message every time you reboot. Its not
a problem -- its a desirable feature.

ddclient is SUPPOSED to be silent. Every couple of weeks, or whenever it
notices that your ip address has changed, it will send you a note about
this update to dyndns.

Clear now?

Could you tell me how you set it up?

There's a file /etc/ddclient.conf.

For the dyndns part, uncomment it (remove the #s) and also add the lines for
your username and password. If you don't have your own custom domain, then
custom dns should say "no".

I have mine check online rather than read my router's page (the "use web"
feature). Try (uncomment) that if you're having problems getting the right
IP address from your router until you can fix it.
