At first my mouse at least worked just not the wheel. Changed the setting to
a microsoft something or other and now it doesn't work at all (this mouse
isn't listed, in fact, I didn't see any optical support?)

Using: RH-9 (all updates/upgrades current as of a week ago)
700mhz genuine intell processor
ABIT board

*using the PS/2 adaptor

Any suggestions appreciated,
TIA,
Markus

It does not matter whether the mouse is optical or wheeled.

There are no RH9 updates since end of April. Ok, there is
fedoralegacy.org, but I feel due to lack of interest their activities are
very slow.

Section "InputDevice"

# If the normal CorePointer mouse is not a USB mouse then
# this input device can be used in AlwaysCore mode to let you
# also use USB mice at the same time.
Identifier "DevInputMice"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "no"
EndSection

This should work in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. Maybe in addition run xmodmap
-e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5". Might be set in ~/.xinitrc.
