Hello,

I just created a dual boot PC. I have Windows 98 and everything works fine. I have RH 9 and everything works fine. Everything except the internet.

For some reason I can not get any pages to load when I'm booted into linus. When I run the network configuration it does reflect the proper nameserver, primary dns, and secondary dns.

I found this forum by googling. Can someone please point out where I should start researching this issue or what other files should I look at?

One other weird or funny thing...when I type ifconfig eth0 it returns "bad command or file". Same thing with arp and route. Shouldnt these return ip tables? I also tried ifconfig -a and same thing....

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Roger

i assume you are on dhcp.
- you have been handed an ip
can you ping and resolve from a terminal?
e.g. ping google.com
if not, you may have either a physical network card problem (they go for $15), or driver miss config
if you can ping and resolve, which is the most likely probability, you are talking to you dhcp server and getting a response:
X configuration issues, possibly u tried to change the HOSTNAME by unusual methods. does X give any errors on start?
sorry can't be more help withput more info.
