Author Files greater then 2 gig

I have RedHat 9.0 installed on an intel two processor system.

Linux version 2.4.20-24.9smp (bhcompile@porky.devel.redhat.com)

(Red Hat Linux 3.2.2-5)

If I mount an smbfs (Win 2k server NTFS disk) and try ls, I receive
incorrect file sizes. Also, if I try cp or dd on a file that is great
then 2 gig, the process fails due to file limits.

I know smbfs is part of the kernel, is there a fix for this problem?

Ted,

NTFS support is a bit tricky.

Jan,

I do not think NTFS file system is the issue. Mounting the device via
smbfs, communicates from the Linux box to the Win2k box using Server
Message Blocks (XOpen SMB). I think the problem lies in the smbfs on the
Linux box. I can move large files between two Win2K boxes using
Microsoft's SMB networking.

Right, it is smbfs from the kernel which limits to a maximum of 2 GB file
size.

Ted,

I did not make myself clear, I meant to say NTFS support in the current
Linux kernels. I did not say anything about NTFS as implemented by MicroSoft
itself.

Sorry for the miscommunication.
