Hi all,

I have a fresh install of Redhat 9. I am trying to install an SRPM for my
LAN interface, but I don't seem to have the kernel source where it expects
to find it. I think I have installed the kernel source correctly, but I'm
not really sure. Here's what I did:

# Copy the package from Redhat 9's 2nd source CD
cd /mnt/cdrom/SRPMS
rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.20-6.src.rpm

# Build the package
cd /usr/src/redhat
rpmbuild -bb SPECS/kernel-2.4.20-6.spec #or whatever its called

After I do this, I notice that there is not yet any /usr/src/linux*
directories. Any hints on how to get the source in the right spot?

Dave.

The files on the SRPM CDs are un compiled, unpatched stuff, thise are only
used to recompile packages, all the devel packages like the kernel-source are
on the RPM CDs (three first one).

There is a warning in the README of 2.4.22, that you must not put the
sources to compile in /usr/src.
So maybe it's not a good idea for 2.4.20 either...
