Author Net connection down but still can ping local network

Hello all,

I installed RH9 successfully on my laptop several weeks ago. I could
browse the Web and my local network with no problems.

Two days ago I disconnected the network cable and booted the laptop.
Since then I've plugged the cable back in but still cannot browse the
web tho I can ping my local machines.

DNS entries are configured correctly and the machine is getting an IP
thru DHCP. But the machine still cannot resolve hosts and when trying
IPs I get "Network Unreachable'

Any ideas? What could have changed by booting the machine once without
a network cable connected?

Thanks

Did you reboot after plugging the cable back in?

You could also try (as root)

service network restart
