I can ping through the firewall and trace fine. I can even telnet to port
119. All via number or name. My ISP is Earthlink and they rotate the IPs
for the servers from DNS.

I did try using a IP number and not name in the newsreaders. No
connection.

As for technical support, as soon as they know you have hardware they
don't sell, the say they don't support it and the buck stops there.
