in the /var/log/kernel I find this warning:

kernel: eth0: registered as PCnet/FAST 79C971
kernel: pcnet32: PCnet/FAST 79C971 at 0xef20, warning: CSR address
invalid,

What is a CSR address ?
Why do I need it ?
WHat does Linux do with it ?
Is it on the ethernet card ?

in short: anyone got a good URL for this ?

Gevonden.
Het is een register in de ethernet processor op de NIC.
Op een NIC zit blijkbaar een PROM waarin de kaart-specifieke data is
gebrand. Die worden bij het booten in de processor ingelezen in o.m.
het CSR register, waar dan blijkbaar al iets in staat. DE Linux
software klaagt daar een beetje over, maar het "instead" adres dat ie
gebruikt dan, is wel correct.
