I am totally new to networking. I am not able to figure out how to get
connected via a USB Cable modem.

I also need to configure linux to get the IP address dynamically.

I also had one more question. Every time Window xp
automatically gets my IP address I get the same address.
Does that mean that I have a static IP address?

Thanks for any help,
Sorry if the question has been asked before.

So how did you react on reading this post?
Why couldn't I read:

http://groups.google.com/groups?as_...dhat*&lr=&hl=en

or

http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Motorola-...-Modem/usb.html

before posting?

Well I am not able to get any thing working

I have only gone this far:

Hardware browser shows:
Cable Modem EC400 Cable Modem Adapter

Driver: unknown

I have no Idea what I can do to get it recognized.

Could someone help?

Thanks.

Why isn't any one helping me?
Is my post appearing or not?

Am I posting in the wrong group?

Well, most of us know to use ethernet instead of usb for cable modem
setup and have not had to tackle your problem which reduces your
subject matter expert pool to a small puddle.

You might try google while waiting for an answer
http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search
usb cable modem in the first box
*linux* in Newsgroup, U need 2 use *, pick English

Results 1 - 10 of about 4,350. Search took 0.81 seconds

If you get it woking post your "USB Cable Solution" for the other usb
cable users to find.
