I've just built the entire gnome package for version 2.4 into a local
directory. I now want to start my gnome-session but I can't seem to
do that. gnome-session in /usr/bin is the one that always starts up.
I've modified /etc/X11/gdm/gnomerc to execute my version but it seems
not to be getting referenced. The problem is probably in my ignorance
of X and gdm and how they start up. Any pointers including a good
link to some documentation on this would be really appreciated.
