| After searching the newsgroups, I have found an old red hat 7.2 thread where
the same exact problem was described. The solution was to remove the gnome
config files from the home directory of the user. I deleted the following
directories:
~/.sawfish
~/.gnome-desktop
~/.gconf
~/.gconfd
And started a new session. It works.
Looks like the RH install program create a corrupted setup. It's really bad.
I presume this is not normal because I can't find any mention of it in the
red hat support knowledge base. Maybe red hat support sucks ? Maybe red hat
sucks ? Don't know, but I wanted to move some stuff from solaris to red had
enterprise linux and seeing the kind of product I get upon install, I'm far
from being convinced that this is a good move....
