I'm running Redhat 9 and I've just changed my VDU from an 85Hz refresh to a
TFT 60Hz - of course now I can't see the login screen as I get the message
"out of range" - how do I fix this - during boot? (Old VDU blew up)

As an aside on the Windows v Linux debate - all worked so easily on Windows
(I have a dual boot) but I'm struggling to get to grips with Linux.

Thanks

When the Grub boot screen is displayed select your Linux boot option and
press the 'e' key. Highlight the line that begins with 'kernel vmlinuz'
and press the 'e' key again. At the end of the line add a space followed
by the number three (3) and press the 'Enter' key followed by the 'b' key.
When done booting log on as root and use; redhat-config-xfree86

Take the time and download the manuals, then read/review/use them to get
your grip with Linux; http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/

Thanks for the info.

In fact "redhat-config-xfree86 wouldn't work on its own - the same
"out-of-range" error occurred with that GUI config - but the SET VSYNC
command-line option enabled me to run it and then re-probe the monitor.

Cheers
