I have installed it numerous times on RH8 and earlier without any
problems, so the question is, how did YOU get it working on your RH9
installation?

I just installed RHL 9 and RealPlayer on three machines. I
don't recall doing anything special. For me, it just
worked. I used rp8.linux20.libc6.i386.cs2.rpm. I just ran
md5sum on it:

525f6f050d076148e9e02769f2055d53 rp8.linux20.libc6.i386.cs2.rpm

When I installed, I chose to _not_ install the plugin. I
installed as root (of course). My realplay binary
executable is /usr/bin/X11/realplay.

Good luck.
