RedHat 9 boot problem (Kernel panic)

| Hey NG,
I've just downloaded three ISO Images from RedHat 9 (i386) and
installed it on my machine. My harddrive setup is following
hda1 - Windows 2000
hdb1 - NTFS for Windows backup files
hdb2 - ext3 /boot
hdb3 - ext3 /
hdb5 - swap
The Setup of RedHat did the partion job. But something was wrong with
the /boot partition. An information window told me, that I maybe will
need a bootdisc (which I created). When I am booting now my PC, the
GRUB booter is showing me the possibilty to boot win2000 or Linux.
While the boot sequenz of Linux the System is hanging after starting
cups (whatever this is).
The message: <0> kernel panic: Aiee, killing interrupt handler; In
interrupt handler -not syncing; appears and I can't do anything. Over
the bootdisc it's as well not possible to start Linux. The computer
says only: boot failed.
Well, and when I set up the partions by myself the same thing happens:
When I want to create the /boot partiotion the Wizard is saying that
my drive is not a bootable device.
The master drive is on IDE0 and the slave on IDE1 on the master cable.
I was looking allover all NGs and could not find any solution. Maybe
someone here can help me out. Yes I know, the best way is to format
C:/ and install there RedHat...lol (but I need Winblows for a few
programs)
Thanks.

Is it possible that the harddrive is not working correctly? It is a 80GB Seagate...
