I have linux 8 installed on it's own hard drive. After months of trial &
error I got it working and really like it. I needed to increase my RAM. When
I did this I received a bad stick and it crashed both my Windows ME & Linux
8. When I got the RAM fixed I was able to get my Windows going. Lixux though
has me stuck. It will boot up & run through the start-up but will not load x
server or #5.mode. When it comes to the command prompt it crashes & there is
no way I can get into it. Any one have any suggestions for one that is not
to experienced in trouble shooting
Any help will be appreciated

If you still have your installation CDs, boot CD #1 and when the boot prompt
comes up, type in "linux rescue". Your linux partition will be mounted, and
maybe there will be some clues left behind in the boot log and linux startup
log and X startup log.

well, what i understand when u start to launch X at that time might be
your screen goes off. you do on command prompt that, in
/etc/X11/XF86config file increase the colourlevel and depth level and
also increase the resolution upto 800*600 might be you will not face
this type of problem.

during installation if you do not used the Command prompt login then
it will create problem to install again but if not then follow above
instructions i am dam sure you will find solutions.

if not tell me on nirlepedu@yahoo.com with full details.

thanks
