Hi everyone.
My problem is as follows.
I tried to install FC4 on my laptop, to be more precise, by preparing a
dual boot. I used Win2k and Mandrake 10.1, and now I decided that the
Mdk should be replaced by FC.

During the Fedora installation, I ordered the druid to format the ext
partition where MDK was residing, so I lost it (mandrake), without
altering Windows. After properly setting up mouning points, and
choosing the packages, I started the actual copying process.

Ah, I didn't say that I installed from 4iso's, which I downloaded
directly from Fedora's website, and all the checksums are sweet. The
cds also pass the media test at the beginning of installation.

And so, when the installer was copying packages from the first cd,
something odd happened. The installer switched off, anaconda switched
off, command line appeared and machine started to kill processes in
order to reboot.

I was amazed, because I had chosen a 3.5 gb install and it was
impossible that it already finished, especially when I only used the
first cd, with the other three still lying on a table.

Now then I though what a hell, maybe it's some trick a'la windows,
where you reboot thousand times in order to change a cd.

But after a reboot my old LILO (one from Mandrake) wasn't modified at
all (despite the fact that I ordered the Fedora installer to set up
GRUB in MBR (my LILO resides in MBR)). So the MBR wasn't modified. And
so the machine seems like nothing really happened (of course when I try
to boot MDK it is impossible, because the linux partition is long
formatted).

There is no trace of Fedora at all. When I insert cd 1 again, it asks
me if I want to install again or upgrade previous installation. It's
like I never installed Fedora before.

But with all my soberity and stuff, I'm sure I did.

So what a hell happens? Why the installer quits when the process is
finished in 20% and later it acts like nothing was changed in the
system?

There is no way to proceed to next 3 cds.

Thanks.

Obviously you have an install error. Attempt the installation again
and when it crashes, press <ctrl><alt><f1> or perhaps <f2> or <f3> etc
and look for "interesting" error messages. I had a similar experience
installing FC4 on an HP Proliant, ie the installation would just stop.
In my case, a message on one of the virtual consules revealed a problem
with my raid controller.
