I have Symantec antivirus client and Symantec Firewall
running on a Windows XP machine. I had to disable these
programs to even install IIS. After that, IIS came up
just fine. I rebooted the machine and both The world
wide web publishing and SMTP were hung on starting. I
disabled both the virus programs and rebooted again and
got the same problem. Does anybody know what may be
causing these services to hang or what other diagnostics
I may try? I appreciate any help. I'm running IIS 5.

Thanks for any help!!

1. What kind of errors are you seeing in the event logs?

2. It still hangs with both Antivirus and Firewall disabled?
