Version is dependant on OS:
WinNT 2,3, or 4
Windows 2000 5
Windows XP 5.1
Windows Server 2003 6
"Patch" level can be determined by going to Windows Update or by running
something like the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer against your
machine. (Service Pack level can be seen by right-clicking on "My Computer"
and selecting "Properties").

| Please, please read the posters question. Checking How to Obtain Versions of Internet Information Server (IIS)
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=224609 DOES NOT revela what version one is running and simply stating 'Windows 2000 run IIS 5.0' is ludicrous.
The only way is to locate inetinfo.exe and look at the properties

You are wrong. The KB article I posted lists those versions of IIS
which are available with each operating system.
Windows 2000 runs IIS5 and only IIS5. You don't need to check anywhere
else to determine which version of IIS you are running.
If you are running Windows 2000 then you are running IIS5. Period.

| paul, did you see this?
Hi, Paul--
As a matter of fact, we have been trying to contact you, but we have
not been able to find a valid email address. If you're interested,
please contact the Server MVP lead, John Buscher (jbuscher AT microsoft
DOT com). Timing is critical since we're trying to get you in this
nomination period.
Thanks,
