We have a windows 2003 web server with IIs active on it
we have a default web page (ASP).
when we try to run the web page with the server name and the application starts but it fails, when we run the application by the Ip address of the server running the IIS it runs with no problems.
why is this?
we use the same procedure, on the browser we type http://nameoftheser and it after opening the first part it fails but if we type http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx it runs fine

any help is apreciated

What do you mean "it fails"?

Cheers

You will need to define what error you see, and if IE, with the "Show
Friendly HTTP Errors" option turned off, when you try to run the web page
and it fails.

When you access something successfully via IP but not Servername, it is
usually some sort of network configuration or client-side browser issue.
